Pastor (859) 525-6909 - Extension 611

I am very blessed to be the Pastor of Mary, Queen of Heaven Parish and School.  I have lived my whole life in Erlanger, Kentucky except for the six years I attended seminary.  My path to the priesthood was a bit different than most priests – I worked for 15 years as an Internal Revenue Service agent before I heard God’s call and discovered my true vocation.  By God’s grace, I was ordained a priest in 2010 and was assigned to Mary, Queen of Heaven.  Being a priest has brought me more joy than I would have ever imagined possible.  In my spare time I enjoy sports (I’m a huge Reds and Bengals fan), music, movies, and reading.

“It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you”

I attended St. Pius Elementary School, Notre Dame Academy, and Eastern Kentucky University, briefly, with interests in Theatre and Social Work. My husband and I have 3 children and have lived in Kentucky all our lives.  After 9 years as a clerical in law offices, I became a stay at home mom, watching babies in my home, caring for elderly in their homes, and working at Behle Street by Sheli. For many years, I longed for a school secretary position, and am beyond blessed and excited to have been given the opportunity to be the Administrative Assistant for Mary, Queen of Heaven!

Laurie Dvornak

Laurie Dvornak

6th-8th Science & Mathematics (859) 371-8100 - Extension 13

Hello!! My name is Laurie Dvornak and I will be teaching 6-8th Math and Science!

I taught at IHM for 17 years. Prior to that, my family and I lived overseas in the Middle East. I designed educational programs for the National Aquarium in Kuwait and trained their teachers to work with the public. I also taught Math Enrichment at the Jeddah Prep and Grammar School, in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It was a wonderful experience to live abroad and to learn other teaching strategies. I started my teaching in a K-12 School in coastal Oregon teaching all the secondary sciences as well as 7th/8th grade math and Algebra. My love for small schools comes from this experience!!

My college years were spent in WA at Whitman College, where I earned a BA in Biology and Oregon State University for a BS in Zoology, Science Education and a MS from the Dept. of Math-Science Education.
My family is from eastern Washington State. Go Seahawks! My husband and I have two children, one in medicine and the other in higher education.

I love teaching-it is truly a calling.  Science is so much fun to share with children, and they have so many questions about the world around them and how it works. Math is often the language of science. Working with children keeps you young and open to the world and all its many changing wonders.

“Great are the works of the Lord, studied by all who delight in them.”
